Land Ownership: Cleveland National Forest
Access Issues: Seasonal raptor nesting
Climbing: Single Pitch Trad/Sport/TR Crag
CLOSED for active raptor nesting. Check the Cleveland National Forest website for details.
Description:A small crag with beginner to moderate routes on granite slabs west of I-8 and Sunrise Highway. Glen Cliff is located within the Descanso District of the Cleveland National Forest.
When to Climb: This crag faces East and gets morning through midday sun. Golden Eagle nesting has been consistent here, so it's reasonable to expect the area to be close from mid December through August. Check the Nesting Advisories section for details
Directions:From San Diego, head east on I-8 to the Sunrise Highway exit, turn right. Shortly after passing a Forest Service Fire Station (on the left), and passing through a border patrol check-point, look for parking and a non-descript trail that heads off right.
Guidebook Info:
- The San Diego County Climbing Guide by Dave Kennedy and Chris Hubbard has a topo for this crag.
