Mission Gorge

Mission Gorge One of San Diego's most popular climbing destinations. Mission Gorge offers a high concentration of top-ropes, bolted leads, and traditional leads of all difficulty levels near the heart of the city, just East of Qualcomm Stadium. The rock is ultra compact granite, leading to its reputation for slippery routes. The approach takes about 15 minutes. Mission Gorge is within the Mission Trails Regional Park of the City of San Diego Parks System.

Directions: From San Diego, head east on I-8 to the Mission Gorge/Fairmount Avenue exit. Turn left, go under the overpass and head north on Mission Gorge Road for approximately 5 miles. Turn left at Father Junipero Serra Trail. Park along the road or at the visitor’s center. Look for the climbers loop trail on the right side of the road down Father Junipero Serra Trail.
