Eagle Peak

Eagle Peak
Eagle Peak is host to a high concentration of multi pitch mid-country sport climbing. Climbs at the main wall start at the base (most top out) with walk-off descents. Climbs at the upper peak generally require a rappel to begin the routes. Eagle Peak is located on a well maintained dirt road half-way between Julian and Descanso (two-wheel drive vehicle friendly). The approach takes about 3/4 to 1-1/4 hours. Eagle Peak is located within the Palomar District of the Cleveland National Forest.

Directions: From San Diego, take I-8 east to the Descanso Exit (Highway 79) and go north. Go left at Riverside Drive, left at Viejas Grade Road (look for a gas station and market), immediate right at Oak Grove Drive, then keep right onto Boulder Creek Road. Go approximately 10 miles to an obvious trailhead on your left.
